Sports Premium

Overview

At Egloskerry Primary School we believe PE and Sport plays an important role in making our vision statement a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better. For children to be able to ‘play together, learn together and grow together’ effectively they need to develop their physical education, adopt a healthy and active lifestyle and engage appropriately in competitive sport.

How Will Our Annual Improvements Be Sustainable in the Future?

Something which underpins all of our Sports Development Plans, is ensuring that there is a 'legacy' for the future. Staff training, via use of specialist teachers to work alongside, has the biggest impact day-to-day. For example, our specialist PE/Forest School coaches act as 'coaches' to support the skills of our teachers to then deliver these sessions in the future, or during extra sessions in the school week. In addition, investment into PE equipment and resource provides ongoing high quality provision. And finally, we invest in Service Level Agreements which promote and facilitate 'competition and collaboration' with our local schools and Secondary school (Launceston College); ensuring a legacy of competitive sport in our local area.

Sport Premium Grant

Funding for schools is calculated by the number of primary aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11) as at the annual census in January. All schools with 17 or more primary aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £16,000 plus a premium of £10 per pupil. What Does the Sport Premium Mean for My School?

'Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this' (DfE June 2013).

Every year we carry out an audit of our PE provisions, targeting our areas for improvement. The development plans below outline the spending for our Sports premium grant. It also shows how we intend for this grant to leave an impact and legacy at our school over the coming years. The impact is summarised at the end of each school year. The current Academic year's Sports Premium Development Plan and the Review and Impact of the previous year's Development Plan can be found below.
